Great food and family led personal service


One of the main reasons so many guests return to the 'The Castle' is because of the great food and family led personal service.

Our seasonally changing menus receive an awful lot of our time and attention - created by our gifted local brigade in the kitchen led by Andy Nelson, Executive Chef and Head Chef Leigh Marshall. They have found and developed a rich source of artisan producers and suppliers to provide a very eclectic menu.

Family friend and shareholder is Graham Tinsley, MBE, who now acts for us as our culinary consultant, occasionally advising on menu development and special events.

We all share the belief that a good hotel must have good food!


The food reflects all that is good about local Welsh produce and the hotel's experienced team, led by General Manager, Joe Lavin ensure a non- fussy approach to the restaurant business.

The order of the day, is good food served well, on hot plates, as quickly as possible! Not rocket science, but all too sadly lacking in some establishments, where more time is spent 'arranging' the food than ensuring the customer receives a good hot meal!

We serve an eclectic menu to suit all tastes in Dawson's Bar & Snug and newly refurbished Restaurant (and Garden Courtyard, when weather allows!) and Joe has handpicked some great wines and beers to complement, including a great variety of local ales.

Of course, to have a completely enjoyable dining experience, you need to be looked after and another big plus point for 'The Castle' is the friendliness and efficiency of 'all who serve!' Joe supported by brother Gareth, bring Peter’s humour and their mum's warmth to the guests! They know that good service is an essential ingredient of the hotel's continuing success.
